Patterned Imprinted Concrete
Patterned imprinted concrete (PIC) is a groundbreaking skilled technique. This technique adds patterns and colours to concrete freshly poured on patios, driveways, and paths. This allows you to recreate the appearance of genuine materials like stone, slate, timber. This avoids the high prices associated with natural products.
Minimal Maintenance
Patterned Concrete is an original product that only requires minimal upkeep. It performs far better than alternative products such as block pavers, flagstones, tarmac or flagstones. There are many issues that can be fixed by having a dolomite foundation and four inches of fibre reinforced cement. These problems include sinking, pest control and weed growth. You will also encounter problems with block paving, woodrot, and pest control when you have wooden decked patio areas.

What is Pattern Imprinted Concrete?
To simplify, patterned concrete (also called stamped concrete) is made by pouring concrete on top of a subbase. Then a colour is added and a hardener is added. This is very different from traditional concreting where blocks were used to create your finish.
After the concrete has cured, the pattern can be applied. You can choose from many different prints, such as brickwork or textured stone. For driveway lining, patterned concrete is a popular option for domestic properties.
Good quality print
The quality of printed concrete is the most important aspect to consider. Laying fresh concrete takes extreme care and dedication. Otherwise, the concrete will become inconsistent and cause a poor floor.
In most cases, contractors would use six to eight rigid printing matsa along with one flexible mat in each set. It is necessary to use six mats to span the narrowest section. However, flexible mats are used to access and to print areas that rigid mats won’t.
While most printing mats are 600x600mm, there is some flexibility in matt size. First, determine how big you need the mats. Next, find the best price.
Colour Consistency
You should consider colour consistency when installing imprinted concrete. This will ensure that your flooring has the desired colour. The main components of patterned concrete are colour surface hardener as well as antique release agents.
A poor appearance will be caused by a poorly applied colour surface hardener or a lack of enough. This is especially true for larger commercial jobs like retail shop flooring.
It will take multiple concrete deliveries to complete large commercial jobs. This will cause slight colour variations in the concrete mixes. The purpose of the surface hardener is to match the colours together after they have been applied. This is ideal when larger jobs take longer than a few working days.
Ensuring Long-Term Durability
It is crucial that the concrete floor above will last for many years by ensuring durability with the sub-stone base.
The concrete mix used also plays an important role in ensuring that the structural integrity of the concrete floor will last for many years.
This is especially important in areas that receive high traffic such as driveways or multi-storey garages.
Reduce the Chance of the Concrete Cracking
For driveways made of patterned concrete, you must have at most 300kgs of cement per cubic yard.
For colder weather, you’ll need more, approximately 350-380kg.
To increase the floor’s durability, resistance to weather and wear, you can add an air entertaining agent.
Reducing Maintenance & Maximising Results
It will enhance the appearance of patterned concrete by applying a solvent-based acrylic paint once it has dried. Water-based acrylics pose a greater problem for patterned concrete so they should be avoided.
You can also apply the sealant once every four years to maintain the appearance and quality of your patterned concrete.
Although this is not a requirement, it will preserve your driveway (or other patterned concrete) for many more years.
